The Abu Dhabi Department of Community Development (DCD), today highlighted the significance of enhancing the levels of happiness and satisfaction among community members, which reflects positively on enhancing the quality of life in Abu Dhabi.

His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, confirmed that Abu Dhabi places the happiness of society and quality of life satisfaction as one of the main pillars of comprehensive and sustainable development, to achieve the aspirations of the leadership and to make Abu Dhabi a preferred destination to live.

H.E Dr. Al Khaili revealed that the results of the quality-of-life questionnaire’s third round in Abu Dhabi showed the population’s level of satisfaction with life in Abu Dhabi reached 7.0, higher than the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) average of 6.7. Meanwhile, the happiness rate among the population increased to reach 7.63 in 2022, compared to the rate recorded at 7.17 in 2020.

H.E Dr. Al Khaili said the DCD is constantly working to enhance the individuals’ quality of life, by launching and adopting social initiatives that have a positive impact, represented by key happiness and satisfaction indicators, and contributes across personal, family, and social well-being.

Happiness as a comprehensive concept that includes the values of giving, benevolence, assistance and humanitarian action,” said H.E Dr. Al Khaili. “Emirati society is moving forward in the footsteps of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, to spread these noble values among generations. The DCD will continue to move forward in developing programs, initiatives, policies and strategies that are in line with the best international standards in order to achieve happiness and improve quality of life.”
