Inspired by the values and wisdom of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Medeem is an initiative launched by the Department of Community Development - Abu Dhabi. Created to support the objectives of the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy, Medeem aims to ensure that all marriages in the emirate of Abu Dhabi are established on solid foundations. This in turn will lead to life-long happy marriages, and strong and stable families that contribute towards building a cohesive and prosperous society.

Abu Dhabi Integrated Strategy to Combat Addiction

Abu Dhabi’s Department of Community Development (DCD) has launched the Abu Dhabi Integrated Strategy to Combat Addiction. Its aim is to protect society from drugs and help individuals remain productive members of society. As part of the strategy, a host of programs are to be initiated in collaboration with DCD’s partners to educate community members about the dangers of drugs and help patients to reintegrate into families and society.

The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi held a press conference today to announce the details of Abu Dhabi Excellence Award for People of Determination Inclusion “Damj,” under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council. The award aims to reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in inclusive development by adopting both local and international disability inclusion standards and encouraging the implementation of innovative programs that ensure equal opportunities and enhance social well-being for all segments of society.

53% of Abu Dhabi residents now meet WHO’s recommended activity levels

The third edition of the Abu Dhabi Sports and Physical Activity Survey, conducted annually by the Department of Community Development (DCD) in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Statistics Centre – Abu Dhabi, has revealed a significant increase in physical activity levels across the emirate. The survey saw participation from more than 28,000 community members, marking a 45% increase compared to the previous cycle which monitors community trends in sports and physical activity, provides essential data to guide policies and initiatives aimed at promoting a healthier and more active society.
