On the 50th National Day, His Excellency Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi, extended warm greetings to His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their highnesses the members of the Federal Supreme Council. He thanked them for their relentless pursuit to build a country that would create an example for the whole world, as well as for ensuring happiness of every citizen and resident.

He paid tributes to Sheikh Zayed and his brothers, who laid the foundation of the modern UAE where humans and humanity occupied the centrestage.

H. E. Al Khaili said: “We are reaping the benefits of their efforts in every sphere, from economic and social to cultural and educational domains. The UAE’s achievements are reflected in the latest Global Competitiveness Index, where it topped the region and claimed the ninth spot globally. What’s more, the country retained its position among the top 10 globally for the fifth year in a row.”

Reminding that the Year of the 50th marks the start of a new chapter in the country’s journey through the next 50 years, he said that the past has given us the confidence to set the sky as the limit to our ambitions for the future. H. E. Al Khaili commended citizens and residents for their contributions to build the UAE that it is today. “The Year of the 50th is an opportunity for us to reflect on the achievements of the past, as we get set to embark on a journey for another half a century.”
