His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi, said: "Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is a day that embodies the values of goodness and giving of the United Arab Emirates since its founding by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan “God rest his soul.” Our wise leadership has followed in his footsteps and has proved to be the best successors to a great predecessor. Our country has become the home of all noble values in the world.
He added: “Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is a source of inspiration and pride for different generations. The UAE continues to extend its generous hands everywhere: It is a gift for every deprived person, a support for everyone in need, an opportunity for every broken soul, and a communication bridge for every lonely person. The UAE succeeded in transforming goodness from a mere principle to a culture, a lifestyle, a moral approach, and a living message for the people of the world through our development and humanitarian assistance.” He pointed out that this noble memory is important for launching many humanitarian and charitable initiatives by community entities that emphasize the cohesion and interrelationship of the people of the UAE in establishing humanitarian work in the country.
Al Khaili stressed that the DCD has taken it upon itself, since its establishment, to adhere to this noble civilized commitment. In fact, it has devoted all its efforts to provide a decent life for the members of society as a whole and other groups that particularly fall within its priorities and agenda, such as the people of determination, orphans, women, children, and others. This consolidates its approach which stems from the great values and meanings our country has adopted for the dignity and stature of the human being.
He added that the DCD pays all its attention to the value of volunteering as a human foundation that enriches its institutional work, especially since volunteering emanates from the vision of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan, who has made volunteering and giving a feature of the people and all residents of the UAE.
